What To Expect

Knowing what to expect when buying a home can make you feel more confident about the entire process. These are the basic steps to keep in mind when deciding to purchase a home. Don’t worry, as your Raleigh Buyer’s Agent, I’ll be there to assist you every step of the way.

  • Get pre-qualified. I work with an outstanding, local mortgage broker who can do this for you over the phone in less than 5 minutes. It is free, easy and absolutely necessary. By getting a pre-qualified mortgage, you’ll not only know how much house you can afford but it can help you negotiate on the price as well.
  • Narrow down the areas you are interested in living in as well as any special features you would like to have, versus those you must have. I will custom-tailor your home search to fit these criteria, thereby making the process of finding a home quicker.
  • Now for the fun part, we’ll start looking! I will send you available listings that fit your criteria via email or fax; whichever you prefer. You can then pick those that are most appealing to you. I will make the appointments and personally take you to each property.
  • Once you find a home, we will submit an offer. This offer must be accompanied by earnest money check also called a good faith payment. This amount is usually 1% of the offer price.
  • The seller has 3 options. They can accept, reject or counteroffer. Based on this, we will either continue towards closing, submit a counter offer or look for another opportunity.
